Mike and Bev's 2002 Nissan Altima

Pictures

At last, Bev got her very first brand new car. We had been looking on and off for several months and had all but decided on the 2002 Nissan Altima based on our research. Not only does it offer more or better features at a lower price than its competitors, it looks better too. Bev even requested a brochure from Nissan's website, and received it along with a coupon for a free Kenneth Cole watch with a test drive.

Since my watch had just broken, we decided on Saturday July 20 to at least go test drive the Altima and get me a new watch. We originally thought we might wait to purchase until August or September, but then started talking about it before we left. The test drive was the last important piece of information we needed to make a final decision - we would want to buy as long as that went well. So what was stopping us from driving one home that day?

We did some pricing research and agreed on our price and finance terms. If we liked the test drive and the dealer could match our terms exactly, we would take it. If any of the conditions could not be met, we would go home and keep looking. No hurry.

It took some haggling, but we got what we wanted, paying about $200 over dealer invoice. We drove our new Altima home late that evening:

  • 2.5S
  • Sheer silver
  • "Frost" interior
  • Convenience package
  • Fog lights
  • Etc...

When all was said and done, Bev got a new car and I will get a new watch in 8-10 weeks (while supplies last). Fair enough, I guess. We absolutely love the Altima and couldn't be happier with our purchase. It's only been a week as of this writing, but we expect (and hope!) to remain completely satisfied.
